Sítios
The central part of Caúna, with its agroforestry, can continue to be used as a farm (see the ‘Agriculture’ purchase option). However, it can also be converted into a series of small rural farms. These are very popular in Brazil and are called sítios. They allow for the construction of a house, some vegetable and fruit cultivation, and keeping a few animals.
The area of 428,155 m² could accommodate approximately 230 sítios with central infrastructure and forests. Their standard size is approximately 600 m² (in the plan: 500-1,582 m²).
If 1-2 large trees were planted per plot, a ‘green’, sustainable city could be created. It would also be surrounded by the extensive green spaces of the current agroforests.
The infrastructure of sítios is kept very simple. Dirt roads lead to the plots, and water and sewage are handled locally. The costs for such a project are therefore low.
